ASU SFTS: December 2008 Meetings

December 6, 2008
7:00 pmto9:00 pm
December 12, 2008
6:00 pmto8:00 pm

Since most of the SFTS members who regularly attend meetings will be at the First Friday event on the 5th, the meeting has been rescheduled for Saturday evening before the Mill Avenue Resistance event.

Other meeting times this month may also be subject to change, but the 12th and 19th meetings will most likely go on as planned. Any changes to the schedule will be reflected here, as well as in the Events list and calendar.

We would also like to hear from members who are unable to make it to our meetings on Friday nights. If you have alternative times to suggest, please let us know and if enough people are happy with that schedule then we may switch times or start auxiliary meetings to help get more people involved and more activities started for you to be involved in.

ASU SFTS: November 2008 Meetings

November 14, 2008

November 21, 2008

November 28, 2008
6:00 pmto8:00 pm

Starting at the meeting on the 14th we will be attempting to implement a new meeting format which should make them more enjoyable and provide more opportunities for everyone to cover any topics they want to discuss. This is a work in progress though, so if you have any ideas to make it better, we would love to hear them. We want our meetings to be as fun and productive as we can make them.

Beyond that, we are looking for ideas that will help get our inactive members involved. If there is something you think we should be doing that we’re not, let us know! If there is a project you think you can lead, bring it up at a meeting, on the forum, in e-mail or even at the table at ASU and we’ll see if we can help you make it happen.

At the moment we are involved in a food drive at ASU. This is an important cause, and a chance for us to start doing more tangible good in the community, so if anyone wants to help out with that, again, please let us know.

When we have more solid projects lined up they will be posted here and in the forum and sent out in e-mail, so keep an eye out for those, but remember, the best way to get a project you’re interested in to happen is to suggest one!

ASU SFTS: October 2008 Meetings

October 24, 2008

Having a club table on campus almost every day last week, along with the crazy rantings of “Preacher JK” for two days, has brought us a large crop of new members. We intend to keep the table running as much as possible, and we will keep pushing to get more new members signed up and active in the group.

If you are a member or if you’re interested in joining, please let us know what you want to get out of the group. As we are currently in the process of re-forming, there is plenty of room for new members to help shape the direction the club will take in the future, so please participate!

We will be adding specific Halloween events as the month goes on and plans are finalized, but if you are interested in helping with the planning, please attend club meetings or talk to us on the forum!

ASU SFTS Religulous Screening

October 4, 2008
4:00 pmto7:00 pm

Members and friends of the Secular Free Thought Society of ASU are invited to attend the 4:30 PM showing of Religulous at Tempe Marketplace in Tempe, Arizona. We plan to be there by 4, and even earlier might be better since we want to get a large block of seats together.

Sadly it is just a regular public showing since we don’t have the extra money to rent out a whole theater for the group, so we all have to pay for tickets. On the bright side though, the ticket sales will support the development of future movies in this vein, so get as many people as you can to see it whether it’s with us or not!

ASU SFTS: September 2008 Meetings

September 4, 2008
5:30 pmto8:30 pm
September 12, 2008
6:00 pmto8:00 pm
September 19, 2008
6:00 pmto8:00 pm
September 26, 2008
6:00 pmto8:00 pm

For the rest of the school year we plan to have meetings of the Secular Free Thought Society of ASU every Friday at 6 PM in the MU. So far the meetings are casual and mostly dealing with the initial setup of the club.

As the meetings become more organized and focused, we will start posting more specific agendas and topics for each meeting.

We are also expanding the Mill Avenue Resistance to include many if not all Friday nights after club meetings, so if you can’t make it to the official meetings, you’ll probably still find us on Mill later in the night.

Meeting rooms for the regularly scheduled club meetings will be posted online, but if you forget just look at the TVs inside the MU and they should show which rooms are assigned to which people. Here are our rooms for the rest of September:

  • 9/19/08- Room 238 MU
  • 9/26/08-Room 206 MU

We hope to see as many of you as possible, but if you can’t make it just keep an eye out for our other events which will also be posted here.
