In Part I we looked at the basic criteria for any prophecy, and in Part II we made the requirements a little more strict to differentiate the impressive prophecies from the mundane.
Today we will examine a single popular prophecy that Jesus is said to have fulfilled, and we will start with the passage describing the event in Matthew 21.
Matthew 21:1-7 (New King James Version)
1 Now when they drew near Jerusalem, and came to Bethphage, at the Mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples, 2 saying to them, “Go into the village opposite you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied, and a colt with her. Loose them and bring them to Me. 3 And if anyone says anything to you, you shall say, ‘The Lord has need of them,’ and immediately he will send them.”
4 All this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying:
5 “Tell the daughter of Zion, ‘Behold, your King is coming to you, Lowly, and sitting on a donkey, A colt, the foal of a donkey.’”
6 So the disciples went and did as Jesus commanded them. 7 They brought the donkey and the colt, laid their clothes on them, and set Him on them.

[ November 22, 2008; 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. ] Saturday November 22nd, Glendale Community College will be putting on the stage version of The Laramie Project. This play is about the reaction to the murder of Matthew Shepard, a gay college student who was tortured and killed near Laramie Wyoming for the crime of being gay.
The bigots from the Westboro Baptist Church protested both his funeral and the the trial of his killers with signs such as “God Hates Fags” and “Matt Shepard rots in Hell”.
In case anyone was still unsure how hateful and cruel these people were, they continue to travel around the country protesting at venues where this play is performed. Among other nonsense, their flier for the event says “Matt Shepard has been in Hell now for ten years, with eternity left to go on his sentence – without appeal, parole, or time off for good behavior. All else about Matt is trivial and irrelevant. You may join him soon. Deal with it.”

[ November 7, 2008; 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. November 14, 2008; 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. November 21, 2008; 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. November 28, 2008; 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. ] Starting at the meeting on the 14th we will be attempting to implement a new meeting format which should make them more enjoyable and provide more opportunities for everyone to cover any topics they want to discuss. This is a work in progress though, so if you have any ideas to make it better, we would love to hear them. We want our meetings to be as fun and productive as we can make them.
Beyond that, we are looking for ideas that will help get our inactive members involved. If there is something you think we should be doing that we’re not, let us know! If there is a project you think you can lead, bring it up at a meeting, on the forum, in e-mail or even at the table at ASU and we’ll see if we can help you make it happen.
